in the beginning...

in the beginning...
it all started when i first laid eyes on a '66 chevelle.
i then spotted a model car set to build that was of the infamous '66 chevelle malibu.
from that point it was my favorite car.

going to work after school working with my uncle dave pelan on his construction job sites, i kept passing this red '66 chevelle in a driveway that never moved. so one day i decided to drop in and ask if the car was for sale, and lo behold, it was!

the lady said it was her son's and it hadn't ran in years. so that drove the price down. we towed it home and my uncle roger and pops managed to start the car that day. all it needed was the timing to be adjusted. :)

$600. bucks later, i had a 1966 chevelle mailbu that was in pretty good order!

i then purchased a chevy 327 small block and took it to mike gheddes in colorado springs to build a nicely "balanced and blueprinted" motor! i picked up by accident; some very rare heads for the motor. no mounting prevision holes at all in the heads. (apparently that makes them very rare and keepable)

through some "technical difficulties", i had to join the navy right after my motor was built to pay for it, after the original financial planning flopped.

while i was in boot camp, my good friend john pollock took my car and painted it a 9 coats of a custom red. "red so bright that you can see it at night".
it was a great moral keeper while i was in bootcamp - my first stint away from home. (and i should tell you about the night pat, kent, and all the guys surprised me on my last civilian night in denver while in transit to my boot camp! haha!)

each night on the boat sailing to god knows where, i would dream of "what i'm going to do to the car"? which parts? what performance pieces?

the years stretched by, got home from the navy, moved to nebraska, met the love of my life, then off to school and career building. - while the chevelle waited in peace in storage...

years have gone by, sue and i have been together for 19 years now, happier than a cactus in a rainstorm! and now it's TIME to start the process of picking back up on my 20 year old project! thanks to pat for getting the seed firmly planted and the folks and uncle danny for taking the car to the garage to start the long process of waking up and rehabilitating an old girl!

** pat has recently purchased his 40th birthday present; a 1968 camaro. and l a looker at that! he had asked me to help find a '68 camaro and get her in order before he picks her up in novemebr to drive to her now home in miami beach.

this project with "patricia" :) has been one fun and exciting journey and we're both excited for the trip in november!
which we will be documenting at that time for daily blog updates.

BUT, now *i* have "car crabs"! the bug to get parts for MY car after looking at all the camcaro catalog porn, and so IT HAS BEGUN!
